DRM Global, Inc. ("Date The Real Me", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains, in general terms, what personal information we collect when you use the Date The Real Me mobile application, website, or related services (collectively, the "Service"), how we use and share it, and what rights and choices you have. Please read it together with our Terms of Use.
1. About Us; Data Controller
DRM Global, Inc. is the data controller of personal data processed in connection with the Service. You can contact us at:
DRM Global, Inc.
8 The Green, Suite #8735, Dover, DE 19901, United States
Privacy enquiries: privacy@datetherealme.com
Data Protection Officer: dpo@datetherealme.com
2. Quick Summary
- We collect what you give us when you sign up and build a profile.
- We collect verification information so we can confirm you are a real person — verification is mandatory.
- With your permission, we use your device location to surface nearby matches; you can change that permission at any time.
- We collect a limited amount of information about your device, how you connect and how you use the Service, as needed to operate the Service and keep the community safe.
- We share information only with carefully chosen service providers under data-processing agreements, and we do not sell your personal data.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Passport tab > Delete Account in the app or by emailing privacy@datetherealme.com.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide
When you create or use the Service, you provide us with information about yourself. This generally includes:
- Account information needed to create and authenticate your account.
- Profile information you choose to share — including basic identification, demographics, and preferences you select to help others get to know you.
- Photographs and other content you upload or send through the Service, and information that comes with that content. We may use it for safety and fraud-prevention purposes; it is not shown to other users.
- Communications you send through the Service, including chat messages and the fact (but not the content) of voice or video calls you initiate.
- Customer support correspondence you send us.
Some of this information is required to use the Service; the rest is optional. We make clear in the app which fields are required.
3.2 Identity-Verification Information
To use the Service you must complete identity verification. Verification involves you providing material we can use to confirm that a real person is signing up and that the person matches the photos on your profile. We may also ask for additional documentation where appropriate. Verification information is held on encrypted storage, is not visible to other users, and is not used to train any third-party AI or facial-recognition system.
We keep a record of the verification outcome to support our safety and fraud-prevention obligations. To protect the integrity of our checks we do not publish how they work; disclosure would help bad actors evade them.
3.3 Information Collected Automatically
- Device and connection information — general information about the device you use to access the Service, the version of the app you are running, and how you connect to the Service.
- Location information — with your permission, we use your device's location while you are using the app to show you nearby members, to keep distance filters accurate, and to help keep accounts genuine and secure. We may also use general location information, such as your region, to operate and secure the Service. You can change or revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings; without it, matching quality is reduced.
- Optional timed check-in. In Explore, you choose whether to check in and how long to remain visible. Other members may see your last approximate area until you check out or the session expires, including while the app is closed. We do not continuously track your movement in the background. A map pin does not guarantee that a member is still at that location. If you check out while offline, we retry when a connection is available; the last area may remain visible until that request reaches the service or the session expires. Opening Explore or receiving a notification does not start a check-in without your confirmation.
- Usage information — how you interact with the Service, including features used, sessions, performance metrics, and crash diagnostics.
- Cookies and similar technologies on the website — see Section 8.
3.4 Information from Third Parties
- Sign-in providers. If you choose to sign in using a third-party identity provider (such as Apple or Google), we receive a unique identifier and, with your permission, basic profile information from that provider. We do not receive your password. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, we receive only the relay address Apple generates.
- Other users. Other users may report you, block you, or otherwise generate information about your interactions with them.
- Safety partners. We may receive information from safety and fraud-prevention partners about activity associated with abuse.
3.5 Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not access your contacts, calendar, or photo library beyond what you explicitly choose to share with us.
- We do not perform credit checks or formal criminal-background checks on any user.
- We do not record or retain the audio or video of voice and video calls placed through the Service.
4. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate, and personalise the Service, including matching, communications, in-app purchases, and account management.
- Verify identity and confirm that users are real people who match their profile photos. The Service cannot operate without this.
- Keep the community safe — detect and prevent fake accounts, scams, harassment, account takeovers, and other abuse. To preserve the integrity of these controls we do not publish how they work.
- Provide customer support and service communications (including verification codes, security alerts, subscription receipts, and notifications).
- Send marketing communications where permitted by law; you can opt out at any time.
- Measure feature usage, diagnose problems, and improve the Service.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
4.1 Legal Bases (EEA / UK / Switzerland)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR: contractual necessity (to provide the Service); legitimate interests (to keep the Service safe, prevent fraud, and improve the Service, balanced against your rights); your consent (for device location, biometric data where the law requires it, optional marketing, and certain optional features); compliance with legal obligations; and, in rare cases, vital interests.
5. How We Share Information
We share personal information only as described below. We do not sell your personal data.
5.1 With Other Users
Other users see your profile (the information you have chosen to display, your verification badge, and approximate distance). Mutual matches see chat messages and basic call status. Last names are masked when shown to other users. Your exact location is never shared with other users — only an approximate area is shown.
5.2 With Service Providers
We engage a limited number of service providers to help us operate, secure, and improve the Service. Each is bound by a written contract requiring them to use personal data only on our instructions and to maintain appropriate security. We list categories rather than naming individual vendors, both because our supplier set evolves over time and to avoid disclosing details that could assist bad actors. Our service providers fall into the following general categories:
- Cloud infrastructure, hosting, and storage providers.
- Communications providers (such as for messaging, push notifications, and email).
- Identity-verification, content-moderation, and fraud-prevention providers.
- Real-time messaging and video infrastructure providers.
- Mapping and location-services providers.
- Apple Inc. and Google LLC, who handle in-app purchases through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Payment-card details are handled entirely by the platform; we never receive them.
- Professional advisers (such as auditors, lawyers, and security consultants) where engagement requires limited access to data.
You may request a more detailed description of our current service providers by emailing privacy@datetherealme.com.
5.3 With Affiliates and Successors
We may share information with our corporate affiliates for the purposes described in this Policy. If DRM Global, Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the protections of this Policy or notice and an opportunity to object.
5.4 For Legal and Safety Reasons
We may share personal information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or government request; (b) protect the rights, property, or safety of Date The Real Me, our users, or the public; (c) detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or (d) enforce our Terms of Use or other agreements. We are required to report content depicting child sexual abuse to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and may share related information with NCMEC and law enforcement.
5.5 With Your Consent
Where we share information for purposes not described above, we will obtain your consent first.
6. International Data Transfers
DRM Global, Inc. is based in the United States and our infrastructure is operated primarily in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries that may have different data-protection laws. Where required by law (including under GDPR Chapter V) we use lawful transfer mechanisms — such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, and supplementary technical and organisational safeguards. Contact dpo@datetherealme.com for a summary of the safeguards in place.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, to comply with our legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. The actual retention period for any given category depends on the nature of the data and the purpose. After your account is deleted, we delete account information and profile content within a reasonable period, except as described in Section 7.1 or where retention is required for legal, fraud-prevention, tax, or audit purposes. Anonymised or aggregated information that no longer identifies you may be retained indefinitely.
7.1 Identity-Verification Data and Deleted Accounts (updated September 25, 2026)
When you verify your identity, we collect a short selfie video, a selfie image and copies of your profile photos, together with information about your device, your connection and your location, used to help keep accounts genuine and prevent fraud. We use this information to confirm that you are a real person and that your photos show you, and for safety, fraud and abuse prevention, security and legal compliance.
How long we keep it. We keep verification information only for as long as necessary for these purposes, to comply with our legal obligations and to resolve disputes. We keep the result of your verification (verified or not verified) for as long as you have an account.
Biometric data. We permanently destroy biometric data (face data from your selfie and profile photos, and the verification images it comes from) when the initial purpose for collecting it has been satisfied or within 3 years of your last interaction with Date The Real Me, whichever comes first, unless we are required by law, or by a valid warrant or subpoena, to keep it longer. See our Biometric Data Policy.
If you delete your account. Your profile and account are removed from Date The Real Me immediately and appear deleted to everyone. We may keep certain information, including verification records, where the law requires or permits it, for example for fraud prevention, safety (such as preventing banned members from returning) and legal compliance. We keep it securely, with restricted access, only for as long as necessary for those purposes, and biometric data always remains subject to the destruction schedule above.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies (Website)
Our website uses essential cookies to provide core functionality. We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The mobile app does not use HTTP cookies; it uses local secure storage to keep you signed in.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, audit logging, and a secure software-development lifecycle. No security measure is perfect and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact support@datetherealme.com immediately.
10. Your Rights and Choices
10.1 Universal Choices
- Access & correct your profile — directly in the app under the Passport tab > Edit Profile.
- Delete your account — the Passport tab > Delete Account in the app, or email privacy@datetherealme.com. Deletion is irreversible.
- Manage notifications — in your device settings.
- Manage location permissions — your device's Settings app.
- Manage marketing communications — every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link.
- Manage subscriptions / payments — through your Apple ID or Google Play account.
10.2 EEA / UK / Swiss Residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)
You have the right to request access to, correction of, restriction or objection to processing of, erasure of, and portability of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first — please contact dpo@datetherealme.com.
10.3 California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to access and request a copy of personal information collected in the prior 12 months; to request deletion or correction; to limit the use and disclosure of "sensitive personal information"; and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. In the preceding 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, from you, from your device and from the sources in Section 3.4, for the purposes in Section 4: identifiers; personal information described in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e) (such as your name and contact details); characteristics of protected classifications (such as age and gender); commercial information; biometric information; internet or other electronic network activity information; geolocation data; audio, electronic, visual or similar information (such as photos); inferences drawn from the above (such as matching preferences); and sensitive personal information (biometric information, precise geolocation, account log-in credentials, and information about your sex life or sexual orientation that you choose to share). We disclose these categories for business purposes only to the categories of recipients in Section 5, and we keep each category for the periods described in Section 7. See also our California Privacy Notice. To exercise these rights, email privacy@datetherealme.com with the subject "California Privacy Request" and the email or phone number associated with your account so we can verify your identity.
10.4 Other U.S. State Residents
If you reside in another U.S. state with comprehensive privacy laws (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Oregon, Texas, or Montana), you have similar rights. Contact privacy@datetherealme.com.
10.5 Canadian Residents
Canadian users have rights under PIPEDA and provincial privacy laws (including Quebec's Law 25). You may request access to or correction of your personal information, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial regulator.
10.6 Verifying Requests
To protect your information, we will verify your identity before fulfilling sensitive requests. If we cannot verify a request we will let you know what additional information is needed.
11. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended only for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that an account belongs to a person under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account, please contact privacy@datetherealme.com immediately.
12. Automated Decision-Making
We use automated tools — which may include machine-learning models — to verify identity, detect abuse, moderate content, and rank profiles in your discovery feed. These automated decisions can affect your access to the Service. To preserve the integrity of our anti-fraud and trust-and-safety systems, we do not disclose the details of how these systems work. You have the right to obtain a meaningful explanation of automated decisions that significantly affect you and to request human review by contacting privacy@datetherealme.com; we will explain the categories of factors involved and the outcome.
13. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
We do not track your activity across other companies' apps and websites for targeted advertising or share your personal data with data brokers for that purpose. The current iOS app does not request permission for that kind of tracking. Diagnostics and analytics used to operate and improve the Service are described above.
14. Sensitive Personal Information
The Service inherently involves the collection of certain "sensitive personal information" under various privacy laws — for example, photographs that may reveal personal attributes, identity-verification information (including biometric information), and location information. We process this information only for the legitimate purposes of providing the Service, identity verification, and safety, and we apply heightened security measures. Where required by law, we obtain your explicit consent.
15. Third-Party Links and Content
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, applications, or services that we do not operate. This Policy does not apply to those third parties. Please review their privacy policies before providing them with personal information.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the date of the most recent revisions. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email at least seven (7) days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
